cleansing with candle

Often understanding what is going to happen and what you need to do is the easiest part to come from a tarot or psychic reading. For your predictions to come true, you also need to make sure you’re “doing the work” on yourself to set yourself up for success and a change in circumstances.

This is where you learn to release some of the energy and emotions that are subconsciously holding you back. Personal growth tends to go hand in hand with some deep healing, where you lovingly work out how to align yourself with your own personal power.

Our wounds are rarely our fault, but they can continue to hurt us long after the incident. When we don’t work through our trauma and emotions, our thoughts are often what hold us back the most. This is where those feelings of not being good enough, or that things don’t work out for us come from.

Working Through Limiting Beliefs

Changing your thinking will change your life, but it can be hard to see the forest for the trees when you’re in the thick of an emotional situation. That’s why you need to work on your mindset consistently. Here’s some ways you can get started:

Think about where you want to be in life, or the outcomes that you are seeking for yourself. Next, lovingly ask yourself why you’re not there yet. You’ll usually be able to start getting an idea of what you subconsciously believe to be true from that justification.

Ask yourself what you would tell a friend going through a similar situation. What advice would you have for them? How does that fit with what you're doing or believing for yourself? Practice kindness and self love.

Start challenging yourself. When you have a negative thought creep into your mind, ask yourself “what if I am wrong about this?” or “are there any other possible scenarios that could also be true?”. Exercises like this can help you to reframe the way your mind processes your thoughts and experiences.

Keeping Your Energy and Vibration High

Spiritual self care is more than a trip to the salon. It’s incorporating lots of small, but meaningful, daily (or regular) habits into your life that help you break cycles, patterns and habits that are holding you back. Some ways you can do this include, but are not limited to:

Working with the moon and astrology cycles to achieve the outcomes you want. The energy of the moon and the planets can often be felt by all of us, and can be a powerful ally if you’re prepared for it. If you’re not prepared, the energy can feel chaotic and hard to cope with.

Meditation helps you calm your mind and strengthens your connection to your intuition. There’s no “right” or “wrong” way to do it, so if you’re not sure where to get started, just pick a short guided meditation on YouTube or a music player like Spotify.

Mindfulness is staying in the present moment and it can be helpful to find hobbies that help you do this. Things like crafts can be really therapeutic, as can activities like gardening, baking, reading and jigsaw puzzles. You’re looking for things that let you slow down and immerse yourself in the experience.

Moving your body will also shift energy. It doesn’t have to be a workout. It can be going for a walk. Stretching. Even putting your favorite song on and dancing like nobody is watching can work wonders.

Cleansing Rituals

There’s lots of ways you can ritualistically “shift” energy within yourself, your space or an object such as:

Smoke cleansing

Most people do this with sage smudge sticks or incense. To get started, open a door or window - you want to give the energy somewhere to go. Make sure you have a container to collect ash in as you go and light your “weapon of choice”. You want it to be smoldering, but no flames. Set some intentions for the exercise and allow the smoke to linger around the room, object or part of your body you’d like to focus on. You can use a feather or something similar to fan and direct the smoke if you like.

Burning a fragrance

Burning a fragrance, either one that you specifically enjoy the scent of or something that has properties that help what you’re hoping to address. For example, lavender is soothing and calming. Rose scents are great for love and self love.

Sound cleansing

You can play healing frequency music (there’s lots on YouTube and media players like Spotify), singing bowls or whatever else feels right to you. You can also use sound yourself - ringing a bell (or playing a bell ringing sound) is a way to cleanse with sound.
